Who this is for
This page describes how to delete your account and data from Samla, a group event coordination app operated by Jarosław Urbański (based in Akershus, Norway). It applies whether you signed up through the web app or the Android app.
If you no longer have the Samla app installed on your phone, you can still delete your account by signing in to the web app from any browser — see the steps below.
How to delete your account
Start here
Open app.samla.studio in any browser and sign in with the account you want to delete. The same option also exists inside the mobile app.
If you cannot sign in (for example, you've lost access to the email you registered with), email us at hi@samla.studio from any address you can prove ownership of, and we will delete your account for you.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is removed:
- Account and profile data — your email address, display name, optional avatar, optional birthday, and language/region preferences.
- Events you created — together with their invitations, RSVPs from guests, attached lists, cover images, and event-level metadata.
- Your RSVPs — your responses to events created by other people (Going / Interested / Pending / Declined and any companion count you provided).
- Lists you own — coordination lists you created (packing, supplies, wishlists, and more), including the items inside them. Lists shared with you that someone else owns will continue to exist for that owner, but your authorship and your reservations on them are removed.
- "My Crew" entries — the people you manually added to your saved-people list, including the optional contact details and birthdays you typed in for them.
- Authentication records — your password hash (we never store passwords in plain text), session tokens, and your row in our authentication provider.
Retention & backups
Deletion is processed as follows:
- Active systems: your account and personal data are removed from our production database within a maximum of 30 days after you confirm deletion. In practice this happens immediately on confirmation; the 30-day window is a hard upper bound that covers asynchronous cleanup of derived records.
- Encrypted backups: our database backups roll on a schedule and any residual copies of your data inside them are purged within an additional 30 days. Backups are encrypted at rest and accessible only to the operator for disaster-recovery purposes — they are never read for any other reason.
- Security and abuse logs: records of failed login attempts and abuse signals that do not identify you by account may be retained for up to 12 months for security and legal-defense purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Email delivery metadata: records held by our email-sending provider (Resend) about transactional emails we previously sent you are retained according to Resend's own retention policy and roll off independently.
End-to-end, the maximum window between your confirmation and complete removal from all systems (active + backups) is 60 days.
What is not deleted
For transparency, the following things are not automatically erased by an account deletion:
- Anonymised RSVPs you sent as a guest without signing up — if you replied to someone else's invitation using only a guest token (without creating a Samla account), that RSVP belongs to the event owner's record, not to your account. To have it removed, contact the event owner or email us at hi@samla.studio.
- Data we are legally required to keep — if we are obliged by law to retain specific records (for example, to comply with a legal request), we will keep only the minimum required and only for as long as the law requires.
Export your data first (optional)
Deletion is permanent. If you want a copy of your data before deleting your account, open Profile → Export my data inside the app. We will email a machine-readable file containing your account and content data to your registered email address. Once you receive it, you can proceed with deletion.
Questions or problems
If something doesn't work, or if you'd rather have us process the deletion for you, write to us at hi@samla.studio. We respond from Norway during European working hours.
